Text Hinting Property
From Director Online Wiki
There's a new property for text members called "hinting" that dramatically affects and improves text rendering in certain cases.
This property is set to #auto by default.
-- text hinting (default is #auto) member("text").hinting = #auto member("text").hinting = #none member("text").hinting = #algorithmic member("text").hinting = #tvmode
These hinting modes can look pretty different, depending on font style, font size and font features. So you better try it on your own to decide when and where you make use of it.
When Director 11 introduced the new text engine, we always had hinting set to #auto.
Now with Director 11.5 we get pretty decent control and in the image below, you'll see that hinting set to #none can look very nice.
